The Bletchley Group’s sales director, Angela Irvine has been elected as the new president of the Birmingham Insurance Institute.

Angela, who is also deputy chair of the West Midlands Region for the British Insurance Brokers’ Association, will serve a 12-month term having previously acted as deputy president. She replaces former president, Cat Harrison.

A chartered insurance broker, Angela has gained more than 30 years’ industry experience in a career which has included senior roles at Adler Fairways, as well as founding her own independent insurance business, Stratford Insurance Office.

She said that she intends to use her presidency to encourage inclusivity and promote insurance as a career choice.

She said: “I am extremely proud to be elected president of the Birmingham Insurance Institute, it is a huge honour and one I am delighted to accept. Cat Harrison did a fantastic job during her presidency and has set a fine example to follow.

“I look forward to working alongside Kris Vind, who has been elected as deputy and with the wonderful individuals who have taken on roles within the Council in the year ahead. We have a real opportunity to build on the progress that the industry has made in promoting the insurance sector as a place where talented people can forge a successful career.”

The Birmingham Insurance Institute is the UK’s second largest Institute within the Chartered Insurance Institute and is run by a combination of elected officers, Council and the Young Professionals Committee. It plays an important role in promoting careers within the insurance sector, as well as delivering CPD programs, networking events and charity fundraising.

Formed in 2020, Bletchley delivers tailored insurance policies on behalf of a range of sectors, including claims support, property, construction, hospitality, manufacturing, marine cargo, media and technology. It is the chosen partner of the National Federation of Builders and provides a full range of warranties, bonds and insurance products to its member companies.
